Sounds good. I will try to have the DKM Scharnhorst back and running by then. I am assuming you guys are using the treaty rules correct?
That's ok, Scharnhorst is and always was a fast gun boat. So no worries, I can finally use the speed and cyclic rate to full.
Since I havent done much at all with rc this last year I had no real work area set up. So for the last two days I have been rearranging my room upstairs, (Im staying with my folks to help them out as they are on fixed income) and sorting through all my planes, cars, boats, and related parts ect. I have got enough planes to keep my flyin for a very long time. However, not enough ships, lol. This is all in preperation of the PE coming home to be completed. The only other project I am going to be working on is the mould for the Z boat I am going to be doing over the summer. Just realized my walk in closet aint so walk in anymore lol. More of a stand in closet hahaha. I also will have to take a short break to do a quick refit on the Missouri once I get it here. But that wont take long.
New slipway under construction. Still sorting all the little goodies out from moving last time. Everything just got dumped in boxes as time was a factor. Got it almost whooped.
While not a combat boat, I have resumed building of a stalled project. In the middle of installing the deck at the moment. More to follow.
This is intended to float, though with the addition of a couple extra controll surfaces and it could fly.
Installing doubler at frame 4 as well as adding sqare stock at all joints interally to increase effective gluing area.
I had forgotten how crappy the wood was in these old die cut kits from my youth. Man I wish I could have traced it all out on marine grade but that would have made it a $200 boat instead of a $75 boat. Plus the kit cost to get the patterns lol.
All center sheeting and decking is now permanantly installed. Tomorrow I will start on the propulsion and steering systems.
It really feels good to shake off this funky drearyness and build something cool again. However it makes me think of those modelers I was privileged to learn from back when this kit was new, and I realize all but one are dead and gone. That one is the one who taught me to fly and though he is still alive he hasnt flown or been active in any rc hobby in over 15 yrs. I am the only one left out of guys I started with who still flys also. I really miss those early days. Before liberalism and social media replaced common sense and a conversation.
Engine pylon in progress. Thanks Nikki. This will be for times when there os a lull at the battle to inject a bit of excitement. Hehehehe. Insert evil grin here.
