Gotta go try this out this weekend as well. Victor model products V32. Acquired from a member of the Ohio club.
Spotty rudder issues figured out. Servo mounts poped the glue joints. Not sure what was used as I did not build this bit it failed. So now I get to decide if I use what was there or design something with more glue area. I like the way it worked so I may try to use it with some good epoxy and wire wheel the hull with a dremel to texture it some.
I think I'm just going to try regluing it for now. Need to get him back in fighting shape ASAP. There's a war on you know. Lol.
Gonna grind, glue, and patch when I get back from my unkles place tomorrow. They are moving in so I am going to help paint. And try the V32 on the pond. Then see of he would let me set up a battle or two there this year. Keep fingers crossed guys. I have not seen anything yet and they just bought the place.
An axis ship that isn’t a Bismarck, Nagato, Seydlitz, or Nassau? The allies will welcome such ships with open arms
Figured out why the glue joints on his rudder servo mount failed. The epoxy the builder used didn't fully cure. It was like rubber. So I've sanded it all back down to bare wood and hull glass and will use a known good epoxy.
Ready to glue. Wax paper to keep the sticky bits away from the non sticky bits. Used JB weld to repair the busted joint on the rudder stuffing tube from being ran into a wall by some nameless moron. Me lol.
Oh but it does matter. A good size screw down the middle of that mount and it will NOT move glue or no glue. I used the same method you are using to mount my transmission plate in the Baden, West Systems (not for bonding anyway) and plumbers epoxy.. in the end I just added a #6 stainless into the wood mount from underneath.. to its last battle in March 17... it never loosened up in the slightest. To this day I get it all glued in the way I want it then add a screw from the bottom... it's easy to take out and your mounts wont move.
