Well, after the pounding at NATS this year by the Axis, and watching two Yamatos wreck havoc with three dual sidemounts, it is time to build something that has the ability to at least hurt the Yamatos.

I have three sets of plans for the Iowa class but ordered another set Saturday to have another reference.

Purchased wood for the build board today and should have enough 5 ply wood in shop for a few ships.

She will be a wood hull design. Pics soon....

Looking forward to this. Without a Yammer counter, the Allied's are doomed!

The more yammers the better! I remember hearing about there being 6-7 Bismarck’s planned for nats last year

Kudos to the Yam captains for pioneering a new gun arrangement. I took a look at the Missouri and the stern duals are definitely viable (especially at max weight). The bow guns will be tough (assuming scale barbette height and strict compliance to 15 degrees). They could also be thwarted by a ram call defense. In the video above the wallowing captain could have called ram at least 3 times, significantly reducing the on target time. I think they would be tough to employ against non-stationary targets or in a non-nats scenario (but the big boats are mainly just for nats anyways)

I'll probably look into making the switch this winter. I'll have to move a few things around inside but it shouldn't be too bad

I think a 15 degree gauge might be needed...

Yammers don't need 15 deg, they are allowed dual sides.

The bow guns in A turret must be angled within 15 degrees of the longitudinal centerline of the ship. I’m not sure I understand your comment Dave

So the Yamato has a steep break at the a and b turret allowing more down angle for bow guns.
2 Feel free to measure until your heart is content for the 15 deg off angle
3 Fight like a MAN as Joshua did. As the ships were at the captains feet at the time you could see what was going on.

so, they're doing the "death-Y" thing with a Yamato. from the description I gather that the boat has two pumps as well, since they're only rocking a dual bow?
did they need to re-sheet after every battle?

also, what is the deal with the Allies just copying good axis ideas? that seems like a great way to get behind and stay behind the power curve. Mayhaps an Allied think tank/Skunkworks might be brought into being? Like, team up the whackiest and most experienced allied captains and just let them work on something unpestered and offline for the year, then see what tomfoolery they come up with?

Weren't Vanguards pretty darn good at hosing everybody down with dual sides? I heard there was a rule change, but perhaps a second avenue to support the above effort would be to get some Vanguards into the mix--perhaps equipped such that they are complimentary to this configuration of MO in a Hammer-and-anvil?

I'll go back to lurking and working on getting my TX ready for next year. just some thoughts. I really look forward to seeing how you all meet the challenge.

With the way the Yammer's were battling so effectively, I'm not sure why a dual pump Jean Bart couldn't replicate the strategy somewhat.

    OK here come the pics......

I managed to get the build board built, this way the keel is nailed down till I have all the filler in place and ready to glass the hull.

Next is the lining up of the keel placement......

    Now the paper work...

Then the stern and bow keels are cut... time to go to work!

^^^^^^ I leave some wood on the keel in the stern to keep it at correct height. They get cut later....

Bismarck's and Vanguards were neutered, the people getting sunk all the time considered them to be over powered. If you do this Yammer, Iowa gun setup, expect 2 years, before they neuter them.

    Keel is officially laid down..

In case your not familiar with wood construction, the wax paper is there so I can glue the frames without gluing my build board..

It's OK, not everyone is MAN enough to post pictures of their builds, or to fight on the team that has lost Nats for most of the past decade :):):)
