hey what does "***If you are planning to outfit the ship with 3-1unit cannons be sure to note this in your order so the 1 unit restrictor can be substituted w/ .5 unit restrictor" mean. I got it from http://www.battlersconnection.com/html/desmoines.html. I was whanting to buy it but i dont know what this means.
    Thanks

Des Moines is a 3.5 unit ship in the Fast Gun clubs. One common way of equipping a 3.5 unit ship is with one 1.5 unit cannon, one 1 unit cannon, and one 1 unit pump, for a total of 3.5 units. Another way is to use three 1 unit cannons and one 0.5 unit pump. The second way has a bit more offensive power, but somewhat reduced defensive power than the first way.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think this is a good kit to get for a beginner.

It depends on the club you are going to join. For fast gun, the answer to both is yes. For big gun, I'd imagine Des Moines is a poor choice.

haha yes, but for a first time build a Des Moines from a kit is probably simpler then a scratch built Baltimore!

For the record, in the IRCWCC I think the Baltimore is a slightly better ship because of its shorter length. In the MWC, the Des Moines is a better choice because of it's advantage in rudder area. Baltimore is definately the cooler choice based on ship history and name selection.

lol I've always seen the light. I don't have anything against the Baltimores at all. They aren't my favorite ships, but I don't dislike them either. Most of that is based on the histories of the ships more then anything else. I like them much better then the Des Moines class ships. Frankly I wish that BC had made the Baltimore instead of the Des Moines, but that's just me.

hey, if you battle it correctly, you should be getting more points for the Allies then the Axis get off of you. That's a bonus to triple stern guns, is that you always have your pointed end facing away from the enemy and you can put the hammer down and run for your life should they try to side mount you. With bow guns you have to turn before you can really run and that give those battleships time to close the range. If they start side mounting you, it'd gonna get painful awfully quick.

Well she turns on a dime and leaves some change and I only have dual sterns and a single 15* off of starboard bow so that throws that out the window but I have a plan

I'm sure you'll do fine. Baltimores have been overlooked for too long.

"Indefatigable is one of the best beginner boats you can get. Tugboat is NOT leading you astray here. That have good firepower, good maneuverability, and average speed. Rookies and veterans alike enjoy battling them." Where do you buy an Indefatigable crzyhawk?
