Uss Johnston the destroyer that fought like a battleship

 

i rembver waching somthing about the Johmston on the history channel on the show dogfights. That thing took a beating

 

yea it crippled a battle ship (yamato) and almost sunk a heavy cruiser

 

I missed that episodes! Is that the one when the airplnaes try to Sink Yamato?

 

umm. i dont know. I just saw the part were teh johnston took t he betting ans then went down. It was trying to defend some aircraft carriers or somthing.

 

Try googling "taffy 3", that was the name of the taskforce uss Johnston was attached to when they were attacked by a far superior Japanese force. (Which they then proceeded to attack, badly mauling several, including Yamato).

 

Von der Tann (VDT) is a very solid ship for a starter or an experienced battler. My roomie at nats this year had one and did very well with it. He had a cruiser before, but he saw the light and went axis. His is a Battler's kit.
