That happened to me the last time I went deer hunting. They sat just across the fence line on the neighbor's property and didn't cross onto our place.
Update on the books: I finished Castles of Steel. that was a great read, but it was incredibly frustrating to read all of the "Fog of war" segments which detailed how close each had come to defeating the other, if they had only had the perfect vision that hindsight affords. Also, through personal interactions I've had with the Royal Army, Brits often act like gooneybirds and this book highlights their strange behavior splendidly. THUNDER BELOW! however, has taken the cake. If you've never heard of it, or the exploits of Gene Fluckey, you need to read it immediately. The USS Barb under his command was...... well, they often came back with all of their ammo, even small arms, expended, and one time when that wasn't enough they came back with ramming damage. My great-Uncle was on the Barb. Died before I was born. bummed I never met him, because he took part in one of the greatest sprees of hoodrat tomfoolery ever and likely had more than a few good stories to tell. Starting Dreadnought as soon as I get home.
