You need to get down to that shop and get ready. We just put in 2.5 days into MBGA! (Make Battling Great Again)
About time to shift from build mode to battle prep mode. Mo might come out to play. hard to fit in the shot agincourt in the back Lutzow as secondary / loaner
Accomplishments this evening include: Thinking the receiver in the Mo failed Troubleshooting and rebinding receiver Remember that I bound receiver to other radio to loan out ship Reconnecting all wire removed for troubleshooting Firing up the boat, no issues Swapped 750kv motor for 500kv. Reversal time is much better on the 500kv Few upgrades over the weekend, patch and pack It’s nice working on a complete boat for a change
Generally lower KV motors are bigger motors (provided you stay in the same can size). More magnets that are physically larger, more torque, more fancy motor stuff I don't quite understand. Difference between a 42mm diameter motor can that is 38mm long vs a 42mm motor can that is 58mm long.
It’s a large motor, about twice the length dimension. Of the above answers, I vote for will’s (specifically the fancy motor stuff)
Lower kv has more torque. Kv=rpmXvoltage. Simple. For a given voltage the lower kv motor will turn fewer times. Act's like a lower gear ratio.
All other things being equal yes. This comparison only really works when comparing two motors of the same can size from the same product line. Example being the motors @Kevin P. Had/has in his Iowa and I have in my Bart. 750/650/500kv 42mm outrunners. The 750 is only rated for about 800 w peak power output. The 650 is rated for 1295 the 500 is rated for 1300 flat. The primary difference is more physical can space for more wire and more magnets. 38 vs 48 vs 58.
The primary reason road bikes have really thin light wheels and tires is so the effort required to spin them up is less. Mountain bike tires are fat and heavy so that they can glide over rough surfaces. They are also harder to spin up because of the mass of rubber. Large can motors are your fat tires, small can motors are more like road bike tires.
