Sometimes you need to step away from the keyboard and actually test things out. I’m thinking that it has more to do with pole count on the motor and braking force. Unfortunately my leave got cancelled so no brouhaha for me. Guess I’ll shift to the larger refit I planned for Mo. might test out some more combos, will try to remember to post results and links to AC motor articles that explain motor operation

Wishing everyone safe travels, perfectly working boats and a great time at the Brew this W/E. Looking forward to some videos hopefully! I am so jealous of those who get to attend.

There was a rumor going around that you might attend.... mass cancellations followed. Coincidence?

Rotational inertia's a BEAST when you're rolling with 5 inch tires on a fat bike. each wheel weighs almost two pounds.
It's like pedaling uphill. all the time.
versus my road bike with 35 mm tires.. going from commuting with my fatty to work to using the roadie is like that feeling when you take off your kit after a month-long operation in the mountains and walk to the chow hall with a spring in your step.

Back in the day, there were these cobbled together mountain bikes with a 29er tire on the front and a 26 on the back. the 29er front wheel can clear obstacles easier, and the 26 back tire could provide better acceleration due to a combination of lower rotational inertia and reduced circumference. 69ers are still cool bikes, but they're rare now.
