    Hi everyone!

So I am working on a small class 2 cruiser and am at the propulsion installation stage. I have the prop shafts in and aligned and am working on the motor mounts. Unfortunately, the ship is pretty narrow and I don't have a lot of room. Thus, when I test install the motors, they touch. Since both have magnets, does them touching impact how the motors run? I have posted a pic to show what it looks like. Any info would be most appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Let's look at this stack exchange post. Basically, it's pretty hard to interfere with a motos magnetic field. You should be fine.
Keep us updated on the build! Looks good!

check for continuity between the leads of one motor and the case of the other when they're touching. If you have a path you will short across it. Some motors 'ground' to the can, some don't.

Worst case just get a very thin piece of something that won’t conduct and slide it between the cans. Won’t throw the alignment with the shafts off

This may or maynot work in your case but on the off chance it's helpful it's a different approach to solving that problem.

One motor, two counter rotating shafts, it's not a prefect solution but it does save some weight only needing one motor.

Thanks everyone! I have managed to arrange the motors so that they are not touching, but are very close. They are going to be cinched down with zip ties, so that will add a layer of plastic between them. I think we are good to go.
