Finally got the plans scaled properly. Maybe one more extract from the book and the plan set will be complete. teaser.JPG

Will you have this lasercut like the Mack and Provence?

Will likely be laser cut. have to get time to do the hull model first

alright. I need some opinions on prop size. a 1.25" prop will fit within the hull shape properly and will match well with the rudder size of this ship. if that is reasonable I will go with that. going larger in prop size is a bit problematic without altering the hull shape a bit at the stern. thoughts?

second topic that comes up is dealing with the large flat "deck" sections raised above the main deck under the casemates. under IRC rules, how does one layout stringers to make that shape? I will post a picture tonight of the problematic areas so it is clearer what I am talking about. if it gets a stringer, that makes it easy. if it does not, then that shape practically can not exist in the kit.

Do not use anything larger than a 1" prop. 1" is more than enough considering how light weight the ship is. Anything bigger will take away from the turning ability.

The Verite is nearly identical hull wise. Even with a 1" prop, the thing still out accelerates practically any other ship yet still turns well.

1" is easy, scale is about 1.25, anything larger requires hull modification. I will outline where stringers will be required by hull shape when I get to that point, and get some IRC concurrence that it is a legal layout

Here is where I did the stringer in the Deutchland class hull I drew up in CAD and got laser cut, it's right under the casemate guns, I don't think anything above the main deck is close enough to the edge to be penetrable.

If it helps I can share the CAD files for it, the originals are in Pro/E but sharing them as *.step files or the like is easy enough.

A stringer for the casement deck is perfectly legal in the IRCWCC. It cannot exceed 1/8" thickness.

The Verite is a lot like this ship. In the Verite's stern, the armor belt/casement deck is 1/16" under the 3/8" stern subdeck and positioned exactly as the original full size ship. If I am understanding the drawing correctly, it may be the same for the D. Perfectly legal. :)

I will draw it up more clearly in a bit and then get concurrance. there is obviously one casemate deck, however there is a large flat feature underneath each casemate that is above the main casemate deck but below teh main deck.

Other interesting notes.... the 45 degree down angle point is ~0.4 ish (don't remember last decimal off the top of my head) below the waterline for 6-7 inches from teh stern... this thing has almost as much solid stern area as teh provence.

Yeah. Verite is like that also. The stern is perhaps the most useless place to try to shoot on it between the subdeck, stringer, and shallow keel.

the Provence is spectacular in that regard... solid starts just about at the waterline for the stern two frames.
