Two sets of props lost to the deep.Speed was an issue. Either I was going way too fast (20-22) seconds or I was two slow (30 seconds). Also the drag shafs need to be re-installed.
Paul you can only get better from here. I'M sure from everything you learned from this NATS the California will come back better than ever. This was your first real build on a poweful capital ship. I got plenty of pics to help. I will be doing up a folder for you of your ship in action, sinking and pits ect and put in pics of systems I saw there that will help you.
True enough. I have started to make repairs. the drag shafts have now been installed. Some servos have been coated with tool dip.
We are hoping to get out this weekend. I have shifted the battery trays further back in hopes of evening out the weight. I also have two 1 pound weights I will put into the back.
Well after the weekend some more kinks were worked out. a 1 pound divers weight in the back has seemed to get it balanced out nicely on the waterline. I just have to solder down some connections on the throttle switch to make sure they are not coming off. The tweaking is slowly but surely coming along.
Paul, she looked great on the water! The weight adjust really made a difference. Can't wait til we get ESCs in her!. J
Thanks Iceman. The more I get it out on the water and into combat, the more stuff I see that needs to be adjusted. But I figure she should be pretty good to go after the end of this season.
I keep thinking that with mine too. I put it out on the water the other day and found three immediate issues that needed to be fixed. That's after battling it for a year already. They say three years is when your boat really settles down. Two more to go....
I am always re-doing mine so I think of it as a ongoing process. I use a ESC with a team delta dual relay as a backup with a prewired mag switch as a backup to that. I have them all wired so I can plug out, plug in and they are all tested and working. Redundancy is good in this hobby. Like I told someone last night, if there's a way to break something, we will find it!
Well the refit of the Tennessee has begun. The balsa has been stripped and sanded down. The internals have been removed except for the motors. The water channeling has mostly been removed. I am considering a different layout of the batteries. Will start by making some different servo trays.
It was discovered last year that the ship was too bow heavy. What I would like to do is stand the batteries up and place the bottle in the middle. I will post pictures of the previous set up.
