Convoy/cargo tubs are going to about the the size of a liberty ship. I am taking a little leeway with scale for ease of molding and because these don't have to move through the water. I figure you can model them to look like just about anything though since most freighter hulls look about the same anyway with just the uppers that really look different. I think the important thing is that they look like a ship from shore. If anyone has a problem with that please say so now. If anyone HAS to have a perfect scale model SS Ihopeitmakesit then feel free to build your own. These are purely to get the idea started and I would welcome others to build more varied designs.

I don't care about exact scale. All I care is that its a target and it sinks after an appropriate number of shots. :D

um... pardon me for asking, but what exactly is a "cargo tub"? Is this a transport (for doing cargo runs in battle) with a very simple hull shape? Is it a test target, for use outside of battle? Is it a towed target?

I know I'm not in the WCC, but I'm wondering if this idea can be used by other groups as well?

Very simplified hull shape, primary purpose is anchored targets for scenario play we're interested in trying out.

A cargo tub is a ship like object that floats, has a small bilge pump but no other electronics, and is anchored off shore for our shooting pleasure. What I will be producing is a very crude fiberglass tub for this purpose. For those wondering what a cargo tub is used for, see my post under scenarios.

That would take a lot of BBs.

It can't take that many bb's, it is only a half tun vessel after all!

we may also have to worry about crew casualties.

    on a serious note,

should we think about coming up with some rules for the cargo tubs?

    Well yeah,

When it sinks does that mean the battle is over and the other team won. Or are they worth points and we tally all the points up and the end of the battle?

How are we going to anchor the tubs out in the water without getting wet if they are not RC and without tangling any props in a line from shore?

Weight the line along its length with tie on or clamp on lead fishing weights and give the ship a shove out to sea. The weights will keep the line well underwater and you can stake the line ashore, when the boat tub sinks, pull it in, pour it out, patch it and shove it back out.

Shall we make penalty points as well? For example what if a tub gets damage from a ram or sinks from a ram. Should there be penalty points for that? With a lot of ships fight so close to the tubs they are bound to get rammed. I think there should be.

I think we should penalize people for ramsinking the tubs. Those little pumps wont be able to keep up with much, and it shouldnt be hard to _not_ ram a stationary ship really (unless you get shoved into it I guess)
