If you're going to use the WW2-era codes, it would be nice to have a codebook or some way to look up what we want to say. Did you find any good links in your research? I only took a quick trip to Wikipedia, and haven't looked into it any further (yet).
Here is a link to a page that has many different sets of flag codes. It has both merchantmen codes and military codes. There are codes from the USN, RN, Soviet Union and the US civil war. There are also codes from the various systems developed by Lord Richard Howe, and by Sir Home Popham which is often noted as being first used in the famous Battle of Trafalgar involving Admiral Horatio Nelson. Also shown are the flags of the Marryat code, which immediately preceded the current International Code of Signals with a couple of it's variations. www.quadibloc.com/other/flaint.htm I figure this one should about cover it , J
Yep. I found that one as well. Thank you. I should have the artwort ready for ww1 and ww2 era flags next weekend. Hopefully I can run off a couple of sheets next weekend as well although I just learned I have to go to a wedding next sat. Who gets married in December... what the heck.
