What I have noticed is that 3 1/4 inch turret guns sometimes makes rips in the balsa. This is one reason the vessels carring a 3 bang torpedo system is some times so deadly. It does not always do this but,the potential is there. With a twin 1/4 inch turret gun system very rarely if ever is there a tare. The reason I made a comparison. The Axis navy's have very few triple turret battleships with 1/4 inch guns. Triple 7/32nd guns make a cleaner hole and again rarely have that taring effect.
well you could always go with the IJN cruisers that had 40 TT (would that give you the tearing action you're looking for?)
Mark I was just making an observation on what a 1/4 inch ball bearing does in a triple gun. No I do not want a Kitikami with 40 torpedoes b20 non each broadside, Thank you.
In WWCC the Scharny is an interesting boat. If I read correctly, it is limited to 6 main guns... and since the Scharny is one of the rare 3 turreted boats from Germany... the double 1/4's make good sense As well as meet stringent requirements for "designs begun" in other clubs. And it can carry torpedoes It is challenging to fit a rotating cannon in the rear of a scharny, if you use the Arizona cannon fixed aft, that might be easier to water. If I were to build it for WWCC, I'd strongly consider 4 7/32 forward, and 4 bb fixed aft (2 for 1 substitution). Best bet, talk a lot with the WWCC guys to see what aramament will get you competitive.
From what I've been told every year the WWCC votes on rule changes. I'm really waiting to see what changes get approved before I decide on the armaments. For now I just need to get started on the hull.
