I’ve been doing a few things to prep for nats.
    Resheet with Seydlitz

Might be using this as primary boat. Decided to go with large tube to aft guns, so needed to move solenoids to deck. Found room and got them mounted, kind of tight back there. Bolts though the turret plates

    Whole thing with wire ties

    Needed to avoid pump

Not the prettiest but it worked in the time allowed
    FA1EA54E-B28B-4375-849B-CC18A8C4F4DB.jpeg
Hose from solenoids to gun, just had to make it work, might change in future
    390FF1EE-D0F1-4723-8E55-E3D69C39D001.jpeg
Also made up some light switches. I don’t typically use the light during night battle, but it’s good to have. Potted for robustness

Guns tested out well, need to paint her and finish up a few small things, nats is just a week away!

Tested out stability today after moving solenoids. Still a very stable boat, nice and flat in turns. Vertical location of solenoid cool didn’t change much, so negligible impact to stability was expected

French presence is strong. We were planning to run Axis, but there were a few last minute changes so the French volunteered to help the Allied cause

Damage from Monday, 70-6-60 (ram was called and patched). New personal record for belows without sinking

Damage from one on one with Steve. Boat sank for the first time, otherwise had equal damage points. Damage was 43-9-48 I think

Overall the Courbets did well, I think they earned the respect of the Axis fleet. I will have a few minor changes to make in the future, but I was very happy with how the boat performed. Unfortunately I had non-battle damage sinks in last 3 fleet battles, night battle I turned the pump off apparently, Thursday and Friday I had huge uncalled rams. I might add a ram guard. Certainly a fun little boat the can hold its own

Shouldn't it be titled "Courbet vs Courbet"?

True, but yet they are French. They get things mixed up from time to time...

I think even the French can tell the difference between a heavy cruiser and a battleship.

More importantly, did you see all the french flags! Fleet within a fleet, and all acting as wingmen (one would think they even talked and had a plan).

Something else to add on this thread, the Kessler props from shapeways held up just fine all week.

Adding some hard area during the resheet, about 1/4-3/8

Pretty quick job for the benefit, will lay down the other side tomorrow, cut later

So you are adding more material for ease of applying, then cutting down the size you want (so I understand how to do mine).

Yes exactly, it also will ensure good thickness at the top. I’ll pass my measurements along for bottom of window height

Well hard area addition is complete.
Cut off most of what I had added
    2018AACA-D816-41BB-BECA-A4FF71DD0797.jpeg
And cut. Ranges from 1/8” in bow to 5/16” from midships aft. The way I fight every little bit counts

Also worked on a ram guard. I bought the stainless wire a while ago, this is the first boat I’ll add it to. I cut into the back of the ribs slightly to get it to about 1/8 from balsa. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Just a few clamps holding in place
    1A17C86A-3FF9-4A65-8B78-28F4527FCE9D.jpeg
Glued with e6000. I will epoxy and glass over the ends and a few mid points

My confidence that it will hold on the ends is not complete haha, I will cautiously release those clamps. In the future I will definitely do this early in the build before the subdeck is in, would be much easier. With the beefy ribs I’m not sure this will help much
