Alright! Just updated the Micro Pump resource. You should be able to find the new pump body down at the bottom of the listing. Also threw in a new 3-blade impeller. Print off some extra impellers as you may need them.
Okay! Thanks, and I got my friend to build a Duca as well, so that's two new people for Maryland Attack Group!
Today is gonna be a long day at the library, they only have 2 Makerbot Replicator Mini's and were swarmed yesterday with 9 year olds wanting to print fidget spinners. Only open from 10 to 5, Going in right when they open, I have to print 3 pumps. (1 me, 1 friend, 1 spare).
I believe Stephen's recommendation on them is to use an Oscillating Multi Tool. The Harbor Freight one is probably the cheapest on that front - https://www.harborfreight.com/oscillating-multi-tool-62279.html - though I will say it is obnoxiously loud with lousy ergonomics, it should go through that hull material with little effort.
Hello, Yes, the cheap Harbor Freight multifunction tool with the black crescent cutting blade is the ideal tool for cutting the top and the windows. One thing we are noticing is that it is best to leave a cross brace in the center portion. A one inch brace wide at about halfway point keeps the sides of the ship tighter. I also found that a 1/2" Forstner bit was quite effective in drilling out the corners (which are quite difficult for the multifunction tool). Use the drill bit first. For cutting the windows, drill them out with a 4.5mm (0.177") or slightly smaller drill bit, then use the multifunction tool to cut between the holes. Stephen Morgret Strike Models
Use any cutoff disc except the Dremel Wheel of Death https://www.dremel.com/en_US/products/-/show-product/accessories/546-rip-crosscut-blade They should just include a tourniquet in the package of these with a map to the nearest hospital.
Seriously. Those things are dangerous. I used one once- started the cut and said "nope, no way", put it in the bottom of a box never to be used again. @McSpuds I believe did actually end up with some unplanned medical attention as the result of using one.
Before you go full bore with a power saw (and possibly ruining your hull). First try something less disaster prone like a hacksaw blade and some careful handwork. I cut my fiberglass Mogador hull by hand and the Duca plastic hull should be easier to cut. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1706672
I guess you probably weren't using the correct attachments? These were designed to be used in conjunction with the 670 mini saw attachment. Much safer and easier to handle with one of those on. But still, not a recommended blade for our uses by any means.
its barely safe with that part attached. but no, I was using a HF knockoff version in my proxxon. No guard. https://www.harborfreight.com/6-piece-hss-saw-blade-with-mandrel-set-67224.html I have yet to find a project where I don't have a more suitable and safe tool at my disposal. I only have one life and one body. Can't regrow fingers, etc, and I'm no longer young enough to believe I'm waterproof, bulletproof, going to live forever, etc.
No power tool, none, null, zero, is safe. The safety of a tool relies mostly on its operator. BUT, that tool is safer with the recommended attachment. No doubt. Those were probably targeted at Dremel junkies that think you can do anything with a dremel. A table saw or a even a jigsaw would be a much better option.
