Fletcher can be made into Sumner, and then Gearing- so three potential ships. Fast ship, so can get out of danger quickly. Ultimate goal is affordable and ease of building, we want them to get in and then build their "dream ship" but keep the destroyer so they have something to play with while building. We are also limited by resources, so the plug has to be a certain shape and be able to fit on the production table/equipment.
To everyone reading this. This is still a prototype, so there will be a few changes. The team is watching this build and from it we are still tweaking the "kit". Once everything is done, there will be a specific "how-to" so anyone can build it and have relative success. I will post the "good, bad, and ugly" of my build, I am not hiding anything. We are learning as this is a hobby, no one is getting rich, unless you count the increased number of captains into the hobby (we hope).
So I installed the drive train with the wrong length prop shafts, so out it must come! One shaft cut shorter to the correct length.
Superglue and plastic is very strong, I was tempted to scrap the hull but lets see if we can fix it. Cut is out from below, separate from motor mount if possible.
Tack back into hull, affix with tape on inside and flip it over and use JB weld to fill in the seams. Putty time!
Sanded and ready to place the motors again. I will be reinforcing the patch with epoxy on the inside, after I install the motor mount in its new location.
Had to cut the shafts out of the hull to get them to align, working with plastic meant I was done with this surgery in 10 minutes. Superglue to fill the cuts. The shafts may appear to be out a little, it is a trick of the angle/light.
Now the pump housing will sit in the area. Will still put down thin cloth and epoxy to adhere the motor mount and pump mount to the hull.
What motors are you using? Also, if you don't have an ESC yet, I highly recommend the Wasp from robot power. http://robotpower.com/products/wasp_info.html
Regulator has had the adapter removed as well as the gauge. Still need to seal the plugs as well as drill for the clippard hose. This will handle 16g threaded capsules.
Not sure, but they have been proven to make speed. We already have a source for ESC's, picture of it in a bag on page one (will post that part when we get to electrical).
Called and they don't use the manufacturer number? Said the closest she could cross-reference was their part number 91736? Called 800-537-9724
When I ordered my solenoids I used the same parts number that Nick referenced. The lady on the phone said they didn't carry that solenoid and was giving other options that they sell. When I told her that they needed to be special ordered from Spartan she understood and was then able to get my order together.
She said that the number was a manufacturer number and not their number (which should be 4-5 digits)? I will try again tomorrow
if you find out what they are or need or need more for an order let me know as i'm gonna need 7.......
My order number was 465722 Item number 800705 description 3827-070-FA81A 6V 2.4 mm NC Valve hope I gave enough numbers to help Keith Maxwell
