One more candidate to offer: Italian Pisa class armored cruiser. Pretty cool looking, and one of the class was the Hellenic Navy's Georgios Averof, which was in both world wars and the only armored cruiser still in existence.
Just got home from the lumber yard. I now have $549.39 worth of building supplies. This will become the floor of the new Boatwerkz er um shop. Construction begins in the morning early. Then flying in the afternoon. Club meeting at 2pm then fly. Today I am printing upgrade parts for the printer and now that it has a borosilicate glass build plate and a 30A power supply that was set to the correct voltage this little thing is rockin it. Running cool and steady now. Belt tensioner's are printing then I will look at frame supports and cable chains.
One of Nicks spotlights printed at 0.16 layer thickness and new x axis belt tensioner part printed at 0.2 layer thickness. Got this thing working decent. Now it will get refined. I have plans to print some thin wall parts soon.
Got the floor for the new shop all framed up. Next week will get the pavers to level and final set it. Then add the flooring and see if we can get to framing the walls.
Ok guys I have until the shop is complete to choose the first two hulls to mold. Also I will need at least 5 more 3d printers to get to the point that I can do an entire superstructure in a weekend. Otherwise it will take too long to make and would be too much lead time between ordering and shipment. So far it looks like the SoDak is an odds on favorite. But I still need input. Its all coming together guys and gals. I'm getting excited.
I will be willing to allow the end user to print it themselves if that's thier preference also. But not everyone has or wants a printer.
Progress. 3 walls are framed. Hope to buy the siding next week. I am out of nails and screws and all the stores are closed as well as my hired help went awol on me so I am working solo this weekend. Think I may go play with my sailboat and do some fishing this afternoon.
Its sucks I live a apartment! so no way or really working on my ships, unless i go over to mom! Nikki
I assembled and covered a 55cc airplane that had a 40" wide elevator, a 13" rudder, and an 88" wingspan in the cab of an 18 wheeler. That was interesting to say the least. It can be done. That doesn't mean I recommend it lol.
As you can see in the pic above, I framed in for an a/c on one end wall and a 21" box fan for exhaust on the other end wall. There will be filtered intakes in the opposite end pony wall near the roof. That way when painting, glassing, ect, I can vent all the nasty smells ect.
You could try this pre-dreadnought battleship https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formidable-class_battleship 8 units in all within 3 sub-classes. The IJN MIKASA was a modified version Just a thought
