If you want to see how not to build a boat look at my Kongo build and the picture of both rib spacing and keel windows. i will document the repair and replacement process well if it will help anyone else avoid doing what i did in the future.

Another tip is to dedicate a little bit of time every day, be it 10 minutes or an hour. A little bit each day will get a ship finished as quickly as bing building over a weekend ... without all the stress. :)

Agreed. I try to get an hour in every weekday morning while the admiral is doing her morning routine.

I think I will start a build thread. I have got some momentum going on my small ship build, so I will try that. The ship that caused all this irritation to begin with is going to get shelved for a while. I will probably cannibalize it for some parts, actually. Devoting a little bit of time every night has helped. Also, at least in regards to scratch-building, I discovered that having a first build that you may or may not finish as an experiment helps a lot. You learn a huge amount from this first experimental build and you go into it just expecting there to be problems that you may not be able to correct without starting over again.

Anyway, I will cruise over to the builds forum.

    Thanks all!
