Functional Minesweeper?

    Has someone actually built one of these that can actually sweep mines (I have been reading that mines are not used but still I think it would be cool if it worked)

    It would be pretty easy. A traditional mine sweep is nothing more complex than a cutter that is pulled outward by an otter board and suspended at depth by a float. So for scale one of those safety letter openers on a string, with a float and a few other bits. The harder part would be making mines that float at the correct depth below the water.

    I will be happy to enlighten you about minesweeping. I am a USN Mineman. Name a sweep type and I've helped stream it:)

    Paravanes and otters function similarly. Both would probably not scale well. But only testing would tell.
