A nice big block of styrofoam also works well as a target.

Yep. Finding all sorts of tools. :)

I haven't actually been playing with it in about a week; the site has taken all my time.

There are some good books on the merchant marine and the building program. The Liberty's were version 1.0 and really showed it. The later ones were better with fuel oil feed boilers. The Victories were version 2.0 and were not all that different in shape hull wise. They were much better thought out as their express intent was to be the post war merchant ships. Many of them stuck around for 40 years, slowly migrating to the smaller out of the way routes as new container based ships were slowly phased in.

From the 1/144th perspective, I don't think the differences in hull shape exceed the margin of error. Still, it has been 5+ years since I read the books so it might be worth a look!

Does it tend to create a bunch of styrofoam trash that floats on the water? My test pond is on private land and forms the boarder between two lots of land. The neighbors would be pretty pissed if I leave a bunch of styro floating around the lake. However, putting ot a piece or two as a target wouldn't be a problem in and of itself.

I weighted the foam as well and painted a water line on to show the below H2O line hits.

I feel that we have once again degressed from the topic at hand.

    So...

I glued a small block onto the 'deck' of the foam and sanded a basic bow shape to one end to give it the basic look of a Lib.
