How about a glossary of acronyms, hobby-specific words, ships or titles(like the HMS KGV). This might provide help to new members, and might make it easier to check something for another club, set up, ect. Does this idea have merit? or is it just another of many things that justin has to do. If he wants, i could start a topic to collect all important acronyms, words, ect., for him.

That is the sort of thing that would make a very good FAQ file. I not sure it should be on the fora.

That seems like a ship glossary, and maybe that should be seperate from the term glossary, and should include the nicknames of the ships too. The term glossary will include words, and acronyms that are specific to this hobby or our systems (like ESC = Electronic Speed Control), and will help people fully understand the jargon specific to rc naval combat. Thats the reason for the topic to collect words, so that its not up to one person(which would most likely leave gaps, no offense, its just 2 minds are better then 1).

Wow, I was just thinking about this sort of thing on the way home from work. I thought about it because of the rookie ship project, and I figured that along with assembly directions, it might be helpful to include a sheet of definitions to help the new guys decipher the directions, as well as some of the club rules. A few of the terms that come to mind are:

    Freeboard
    boot
    stern
    bow
    keel
    port
    starboard
    waterline
    displacement

not an all inclusive list by any means, but a start.

yea, i read people's minds. Just kidding, but i guess i just beat you too it, great minds thuink alike. So, yea, it would be much longer, and maybe that can be another spinoff of this idea. So far, we have the terms/acronyms glossary, a ship glossary, and a rookie terms glossary.
