I have seen the BC turrets and Curt has also ordered the termite turrets but got ones much like my Tipitz turrets which are much harder. Curt said you have to ask for a extra hardner if you want turrets like mine.

    Chris,
Did the BC Termite Armor Vanguard turrets look accurate? There are no photos on the BC site.

I can't remember Bob but you could ask Steve Hill.

    Chris,
I saw the Termite Armor turrets at Steve's place and they aren't detailed like the German triple 11" ones. IMO they don't look any more like Vanguard's modified turrets than my fiberglass QE Class 15" turrets do, but are usable.

Steve gave me his wooden master for the Vanguard's A and Y turrets, which is pretty good. I'm going to do some minor mods, make a mold, then add the range finders for B and X turrets and do a second mold.

I should be able to supply you with Vanguard turrets in 2-4 weeks. Steve's secondaries are fine.

I will keep that in mind Bob, are the secondaires the same as the ones on KGV? The plug Steve did looks very simular to the KGV ones I got from Ralph for my KGV.

The secondaries on the KGV Class and Vanguard had completely different shapes. KGV's were round and Vanguard's were multi-faceted.

Bob the univiersals were siezed and they would not come apart. That's why the yardape method was applied to them. The owner threw the other part out not realizing exactly what it was for. Good news universals were fabricated and installed and the tests show it works and hopefully will hold together when the ship is in Fredriction battling. The owner will allow me to use it.

Hey Paul there are two spots to look at. I am going to try getting out to them tomorrow after my company leaves, one is close to my house.

Sweet hope the one close to your house works out. That would be great.

Hey guys, saw you were discussing Vanguard turrets. Greywolf down south has some for sale. http://www.greywolfsquadron.com/turrets.html They look pretty nice.

I think there the same one they were talking about. Steve Hill has the 'soft ' versions I believe.

Yes Curt they were the soft ones and were not as detailed as the ones on that site, I also will need the secondary batteries and nobody seems to make them but I don't need them right now as my KGV is my next project and then the Graf Spee, it will be 1-2 years before I can get to Vanguard. Thanks for the website Scott.

I think he said these turrets are new and improved so he must have redone his old mold into this more detailed version.

They do look different than the ones Steve Hill has but I am wondering if they are the soft or hard termite type, I have the hard type for my Tirpitz and they are much better than the soft ones Steve got for Vanguard.

The Greywolf turrets are completely different from Steve's and very accurate. I'll be ordering a set instead of making my own molds. Note that both types used by Vanguard are available: with and without rangefinders.

Re secondaries Steve has several vinyl molds and the turrets are quite nice.

When I said "different from Steve's" I meant from the flexible Termite Armor ones he got from BC. The master's he made were similar to Greywolf's but not as detailed.

I think I will be doing the same Bob, and I will contact Steve about the secondaries.

On to other things I just got back from the site of Canats 10, it is 10kms from my House and is a very nice spot, there are two areas that we can use but the first is a beach and may mot be available due to public use but the second one is much more secluded and is only a three-four minute walk down a path. I walked out about 50 feet at both spots and was only up to my chest(about 4 feet) and could see the bottom for a good 20-30 feet farther out so finding our boats will not be a problem. the bottom at both areas is sand with some small rocks the second has a bridge which we could stand on and run the boats from it. Craig took several pics of the site, some with me in the water and they will be posted latter this evening.

    So far we have confermations from the following;
    Curt Stokes
    Chris Easterbrook
    Chuck Rogers
    Joy Rogers
    Paul McKinnon
If anyone else is planning on attending please let me know ASAP so we can update this list, I am trying to get a accurate number of people who are attending.
