I thought I would say hello and any advice is welcome since I am new to this hobby. I have been building scale rc for years mostly Helicopters, Airplanes and Rock crawlers. I think it's time to get into warships for a change. I am looking at purchasing a Prinz Eugen hull kit. It looks like it would be a good first boat. I have plans for the USS Princeton cvl23 which is my favorite ship but I think a carrier can wait until I get some experience with ships.
Hi there! You're in a great area for the hobby. Have you made contact with the local group yet? If not, @VVaholic And @Tugboat are a good place to start.
I have contacted a few people in the SAS in Statesboro. They are having a get together in two weeks. Its about a 3 hr drive from home bit hopefully I will be able to pick up the boat and learn a few things.
Welcome! Irnuke has a Prinz Eugen hull plus turrets and plans for sale on this site. Could save you some money. For Sale - Battlers Connection DKM Prinz Eugen $150 | R/C Warship Combat
Thanks I saw that too. I believe it is the same one I'm going to look at in Statesboro. It was listed for sale on the SAS site as well. If it is in good shape I will have a starting point. The hull is the easy part, I find the cannons and water channel a little confusing. They are not something I have ever had to do in other rc applications.
Hello 60Buick, Looks like you are about an hour or so from my town (mableton). Welcome to the great hobby! Any questions, just let us know. We have an active chapter in Atlanta and are always looking for new captains. If you like the PE, John in Atlanta is running one (for two+ years now) and he can give you some great advice. The guy that helped him build it is not so bad himself. Lou
That's great thanks. Everything I have read says its a good first boat. I hope it can hold its own on water since It's not a very big boat. Is there a tactics thread for this type of ship?
I bought a boat, the Prinz Eugen hull. I'm looking forward to building it if I can keep the cat out of it. I guess it's appropriate the cats name is Kitler and is a German boat.
see you have that infestation ....i mean wonderful helpers...sshhh....they're watching us.. oh! and heil Kitler
Yes, a proper shipyard has feline overlords... Chief Hull Inspector Tuxcat from BuShips has been helping me for several years now. Junior Assistant Propwasher 2nd class Lucky-boo just kind of gets in the way, but he's still learning
