Despite the ridiculous weather, I joined needing help. New to these r/c warships, and my grandfather gifted me with a DKM Bismarck. Not sure what brand, but I’m not sure how to start despite having to sets of directions and a blueprint. Help is much appreciated. Being a dialysis patient not allowed to work gives me some time.

    Welcome to the site.
Can you tell us a little bit about your model skills and what type of kit this may be? scale etc?

I’m used to the plastic model kits, not the r/c style. This is a swamp works DKM Bismarck. Fiberglass hull, wood deck, and a good portion of the superstructure. My grandfather bought it at a yard sale in Maine for $25. I inherited the ship, and am looking for some help. I’m missing pieces, and I’m not sure where to get parts for the guns and controls.

Battlersconnection sells guns, solenoids, motors, electronics...pretty much anything you would need for a combat ship. I would suggest getting in touch with the group in upstate NY, several battlers there, and heading to a build session. Lots to see and learn, more than a simple forum post could effectively cover. Bismarck is a big ship and not one I would recommend for a first time builder, but, its your boat do what you want, especially being handed down from family.

Welcome. I grew up in northern MA but now live in the DC area. This is a small hobby so captains are spread out, there's one semi-active battler in southern MA and a few active guys in NY just south of Albany. Meeting up in person is always more effective than reading stuff online, but the quality of online material now a days is really good compared to when I built my first ship 17 years ago

Bismarck is a tall order to start with. Here are some links to build threads that document the construction process and show all of the parts. You can browse for others

Here's my current Scharnhorst build thread, which is a similar ship to Bismarck

I also started making some how-to videos. Only have the first couple done, but should get the drivetrain one done soon

    Hope this helps.
