Actually, they just started a pilot program that allows officers to roadside drug test drivers based on there own supposed level of suspicion. It's a swab test, and they are known to give false positives frequently.
That would be a great day, pulled over for doing nothing wrong, tested, false positive, arrested, rig impounded, licence suspension for the mandatory minimum of a year, stuck in Michigan 1000+ miles from home with my dog and my boats. Going to a Saranac battle? Priceless, hahaha.
Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.
The Midwest group has had some success in generating better turn-outs at our events by hosting multiple-format battles. That might be something to consider. You don't always end up with lots of ships on the water at the same time. But you might get more folks, with more ships to attend. I feel like we are getting off-topic in this thread. Mikey
