Which Spekrum model? Spektrum SPM6625 DX6i 6-Channel Full Range Microlite Mode 2 This is described as for airplanes and helis. Does this work for us?
There are 2 versions of the DX6i. One for fixed wing and one for helicopters. you can fly either on the same radio (or drive boats). The main difference is the throttle on the airplane version stays where you put it, and the heli version re-centers.
Hmm ... I thought heli radios were like aircraft radios ... the left hand throttle stick does not have a centering spring. I know that would make it a pain to fly my helis. Heh. Of course, Spectrum does things oddly compared to most other manufacturers. Maybe it is a stick mode thing, aka Mode 1 and Mode 2. Each has the throttle stick on the opposite sides of the radio from the other mode which is why some transmitters have a spring return on the left sinck and others have it on the right stick.
I would've thought that on the below version, the left stick is for pitch and roll, the left for throttle and use, so the left stick would have a return spring, and the right stick would not.
Spektrum sent me a kit of spring and gimbal part to convert the gimbel to self centering. Simple to do but you need a small hemostat to put the parts in the gimbel.
