Cool way of finding scale parts. I made my masts of toothpicks. I was leary of putting weight that far up on a combat model. The mast did not last the season so I suppose sometime I will have to take another shot at it.
    Nice job so far!

Thank you and as for mass i have an excelent idea what you could use. plastic tubing, its very light and flexable and its cheap and i would recomend meltime the peices rather than gluing. i was going to use plastic but i wanted it sturdy and my ship is a show ship. i beleive in my local hobby shop at the train sextion there are loads of things u can use.

Thanks for the pics. I see the rails look like thin brass strips. I have thin sheets I can use instead of the styrene plastic.
The funnel looks like it's made of the same material. Good. I will use that too. Your smokestack carved or styrene kit?
Cranes look good. Brass cranes will hold up to damage. Mine have mostly. Once a very large modern frigate hooked the crane and ripped it clean from the deck. I never recoved it.

The radars looked familiar to me. I remember cannoblizing many parts from various models then using all kinds of house hold items and stuff to add detail.
Loved it when someone would be concerned about the cost of the detail that it would be shot off , when infact it was very very cheap and expendable. Easy to replace too. I used to use hollow brass for the main mast and used solid brass for the yardarms. I would weld them to the main mast and each other. It makes it extremely strong to bb abuse. The hollow brass of the main support post would be dented from dings but you can sleeve it to add more protection. The dings and dents tell a story after battle.

I will have the opportunity to catch up on the work of Bismarck this weekend so I will be taking pics.

    Keep up the good work.

Thank you curt, yes the smoke stack is balsa that i carved and rounded off, then i used the styrene for the small decks on the stack then used .032 x 1/4 in brass strips for the rails as for the cranes idk if i want them to like swing out for show or not considering my ship will be a show boat. and as for the detail items im just taking off of models that i dont really care about and they go good. also i found a few neat little things in the train section of my hobby shop that i might buy. as for your bismarck i cant wait to see the pictures....if you want u can post them on here if you would like too.

Great, she will be going into paint for primer probably tomoro im not sure, maybe tonight. as for the colors to use on her....that will be tough ive been looking for a perfect flat light gray and so far all i see for a good color is a walmart $1.50 can and im actually afraid to use it because the term "you get what you pay for" so any suggestions on what to do for paint it would be greatly appretiated. i was also thinking of just using the gray primer color but primer soaks in things like water or other unwanted junk so need some help there... thank you

Looks fantastic. Are those AA guns from a kit or scratch built?

I have my original which is shot to pieces. I have my replacement superstructure which is the orginal SwampWorks foam rubber superstructure kit that StrikeModels had that I was going to use to replace the original , then I decided to use it as a dresser upper and keep the original for battling as an unrepaired superstructure. Then I saw the newest foam rubber which is better cut and has improved detail like the conning tower with a bridge and other details that I decided to order that and use it for Bismarck. Well today I tried out the Greg McFadden Superstructure on my old Swampy Bismarck to test fit it and figured his superstructure is more dense than the foam rubber and BB proof, though heavier than the foam. However it has the unique angles and shapes built into it, I figured I could make that my Battle superstructure and it won't need Termite Armor to protect it unlike the foam rubber that Strike has. So what will I do with the new Strike that I have on order? I am going to dress that one up and use it for Tirpitz as that model will be a detailed runner with working guns, so it won't be put in harm's way. I decided to use the Termite secondaries on Bismarck along with the Main Turrets as well. I am going to use the Mcfadden Barbettes as they are detailed with the molded in vents on it's sides so they will go on board Tirpitz. This way I can get Bismarck finished much sooner and keep the work going with Tirpitz.
