Did you fiberglass or water proof the island?

The island is fibreglass on the bottom but nothing on the top as yet. Still a work in progress.

Better fiberglass the top before you do any float testing so the whole is wtaer proof.

The main body(under side) is made from 2L coke cases. Cardboard flat top and drywall compound over foam for the mountain.

Good stuff. So... in other words nothing you would really miss, or cost wise... good choices. I might have to make a floating thingy myself!

Chris: My island has not seen glass yet and will be done only after other projects are done first. The island will be glassed on all sides and have a hatch cut for arming later. Will need help glassing this one though.

John, you can glass in my basement. I now have an exhaust fan rigged up for the fumes, but if it nice it can be done outside as well and then brought in after the fumes have started to dissipate to cure completely.
