Hey Yamato guys. I just got my Yamato kit from Battlers Connectiom. Ourstanding Kit? I was wondering what size props you are running? I will drive the Yamato with 2 Johnson 970's.
    Thanks,

Marc uses 2 1/2 inch on his. Outer non-powered props were 2 inch. Marc has pictures if you want to see them.

I use 5 blade 2" drive props and Johnson 600 motors geared down quite a bit. That worked just fine.

I use 4 blade 2 inc props 25pitch geared down using Traxxiss gears on a 12tooth pinioin. Motors are J600s with watercooling coils wrapped around the motors. To see more of the interior setup go to the "International Yamato Owner's website for the full bio and photo gallery. Props on it there are larger than what I am usnig now. Currently my Yamato runs 100ft course in 24 secs dead on.

One thing.. Gettysburg.. if you use the 970 motors then you don't need props larger than 1.5. The large motors have more than enough torque to push that monster at 24 second with props 5 or 4 blade this diameter 25 pitch. Any larger and your going to need to add large drag props, gear it down or use an ESC.. unless this is what you plan to do. Chris uses larger props than I have. Custom made by Battler's, they have a much flatter profile but he can accellerate much faster, stop and go and reverse is unbelievable. He is using the Old style Batter's gears with 14tooth pinion, other than that the layout we both use is basically the same and works very well. We also use Telephone wire to connect everything.Very cheap and it has a dozen wires within the cable that you can use for later applications. Extremely reliable wiring.

Anyway more on that on the BIO.. enjoy..

No problem. It was the guys from the old days that helped me get into this and that was the main attraction. The willingness to help and share the info.

The gears have been in use since I first put the model on the water so over 8 years and as you can see they have held up quite well.

You can see the original setup over at the old Nabs website.. I'll Get you the link..

The more I look at the PE the harder it will be for a ship to hit it.

You got that right. If you play it well I dont' think anyone can hit it. If they do it will likely hit the impenetrable areas. NASTY!!
