Hi there! Are you interested in battling or do you just want to build a moving ship?

I think 1/144 is a great scale for combat and static! Have you checked out the "Warship Builds" section of the site? The Bearns CV build thread is a super detailed took at how me get wood hulls done. Do you mind sharing some pics of your boats? Just hit the little "Add Images" button next to post and select them from your computer.

I looked at the Bearns build. Got some ideas for a faild Essex build. I tried to waterline it,gonna
try full hull next. I have two Glynn Guest cve in process, mostly built but minor fitting out.
I have bad tremors at time so minor details are hard. My wife helps but she gets bored.
I enlarged from 1/200 sims and Aaron Ward to 1/144 and using balsa, made hull and some superstructures. I hand sanded everything. I have a Baltimore,Cleveland,Massachusetts and a Biter on the slipways. Completion depending on the admiral, she hates messes.

I was a static modeler too. 1/144 is a good universal scale, combat or not. (still do some static models)

For me it's just right, I can manipulate parts better. Displaying is limited but the admiral (wife)
    Has donated some wall space.

It can be a huge pain to put AA and little details on a 1/700 or 1/350 ship. I know from experience :D
