Closer to 1/5...a project I started many years ago (and in a different house) but never finished (yet?)
Jackstaff, outriggers, and more oerlikon crosshairs for when I inevitably snap these stupid things off by breathing wrong.
Inner voices: Lol there’s nothing there on the blueprints Let’s put a gun there! Pew pew pew! Let’s look at external sources. wait what’s S Pelorus and steering stand? Nothing. It’s not a gun. Ignore it. Oh look it’s a steering redundancy common on other ships, see the North Carolina has it. Four even! But…less guns? Yes, less guns. Awe!
I wasn’t happy with the davits, they weren’t shown on the ship plans, I’ll yank em and redo. Also not too pleased with some of the rigging, so I’ll 3d print a “block” to cover the knots in two parts. You can get lost in the details or take too many creative liberties and get off historical value to “look good”. I’m trying to balance both.
Mast needs to be strong for rigging, bought some steel and hauled out the welder. Welded ground and ready for prime time
