Not done yet! Just finished the superstructure and notched each 6"x10' plank on the decking. Found theheights to be off a litle bit so I bought some 1/4" plastic to bridge the gap and make the removal easier as necessary. And lighter than wood too. And wintertime hobby which took my attention.
More modelling after the move to west coast. If anyone is interested the twin bofors rafts and oerlikons are all available now in 144 scale on shapeways thanks to hawkins.
After attaching the planking, I did the sides a little. Also, 16 books in print, bam. I got 2 of them circa 1945.
Each 144 scale plank is 10ftx6inch scale, hence the butted joints all penciled and scribed by hand one at a time. 1000s of them.
In case anyone cares, I've always gotten quick response and new items from Hawkins on Shapeways found here in 144 scale size: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/3dboats?section=1/144&s=0 Certainly detailed and I can vouch for the finished product (as I have a bunch of his items).
Just found out this here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/in...e-to-using-the-silhouette-cameo-cutter/page-1 My wife has a cutter already, so it was nothing to do up something like this, and I'm going to strip the side and redo it so it's more professional, and print two copies one for each side. Looking forward to it!!!
After a bit of a hiatus, more cutting! Cut all the tiedown strips, mocking up the cardstock elevators before investing in the cuts of the styrene. And some end result styrene cuts. The triangle bits are the raft strapping.
Other elevator cut out. I didn't like the rails so I yanked them and used the cameo to cut more accurately than I can with my hand and a knife. Each of the tiedown strapping strips have been cut out and will be filled with the 3d printed strapping once the deck is painted.
Let's try this again shall we? The first go around didn't have enough hardner. Man that was a lot ofshaving to getback to whereiwas
