700 grit sand and primed again. Looking much cleaner. Likely one more fill and glaze and get on the rest
Building up a few low spots, matching the nose, a few more low panels brought up a bit. Hoping only a few more glazing and spot puttying and then on to sponsons. Also ordered these, the 3d printing version didn't have the detail I liked. 75 bucks later...also here's a photo of the bunker gear during naval environment fire training! During the building of the first temple by Solomon, there were roses in gold put on top of the pillars. The artwork was the most expensive, most intricate, most beautiful part of the temple. Once up there was no one who could see them they were so high. Just for God to know and enjoy. I say that because I know I didn't have to put extra ribbing in, but I know it's there and that's my 'roses' to secretly enjoy.
Just make sure it's either well-sealed or well-vented. You wouldn't want those enclosed areas to trap water and rot. Looks amazing though!
Looks nice. Word of caution, styrene doesn't hold up well to BBs. Using them as masters to mold and cast might work if you want high detail.
Totally. Though for those just tuning in, I'm turning this into a model and won't be sailling or shooting at it - I just thought y'all are so nice around here that I'd keep posting here instead of on a model forum.
Did the catapult today and the aft elevator - thiiiick. Also bought a micro drill to do the drain holes in the elevator. See how detailed that's gonna be? Blaugh. Also, you can see here two things. One, a top shelf example of the catapult, and two, the catapult is raised off the deck. And here I was worried that I'd have to sand it somehow. ha!
Ok so full disclosure, I've been reading a lot. Want to get this right. Did the deck with graphite pencil, pledge with future, razorblade, q-tip, finger, spray bottle, all just with mediocre results when trying to get the model wash to go in between the planks for the decking to mimic tarring and then I thought "was it in fact tarred?". Looking back to photos again it looked like they were just dirty unintentionally not tarred intentionally, so "get on with it Andrew", I am soliciting your opinion on looks. Thoughts?
Picked up some flight decking from my trip to Japan. Great for 'around the elevator' grating. Used some for sponsons too whynot?
Not dead yet. Tie down expansion strips, sliding hatches, inset garage doors boxed in, double layered hatches
