No foolin'! My old scrollsaw was purchased in 1977 by my father, so you get an idea of how much work it's done :)

Anyhow, I have run out to the shop under threatening skies, and the best I can give you is... 73mm. Just under 3" high amidships, not including the little bit of keel there.

I also dragged in the manual for the new scrollsaw so I can assemble it tomorrow after class, and the side view of the Surcouf, so I can cut it out and glue it to a piece of 1/4" ply for cutting on the new saw tomorrow.

Hey Tug, have you had a chance to get that set of plans resized? I'm in the planning stages right now. ;)

Go to my website, and underneath the picture of the Connecticut at flank speed is a line that says 'Click Here Mike!'.

Clicking on it will start the download of a 13MB file (jeanbart96.tif). Bon apetit!

the I-400 plug is nearring compleation! added some photos in the file manager. its filled with foam and rough sanded, next need to cover in bondo or resin to seal and finish sand. then the SS. I also included in the plug build the locations of all dive planes (fore and aft), the rudders (top and bottom), shaft locations, the top 2 TT (the only ones that would be effective to arm), and the elevated deck gun mount. also a picture of the Shimakaze along side for comparison

It got here and I'll open the box after lunch! The box is totally undamaged, so I expect that the plug will be, too.

I'll apologize now for the exessive use of duct-tape, I didn't want the box to rip

LOL, the packing was great! The plug is in fine shape, no damage from during shipping, although I see what you were talking about vis-a-vis swelling of the foam. I think it's totally usable, with some shaping :)

For anyone who hasn't started building a 1/96 ship and wants an idea of scale... the I-400 is about the size of most 1/144 cruisers, only cooler looking :)
