If you're ever troubled by the weird hangar/sail thing, consider doing the I-402. It was converted into an oil tanker, and received a more traditional sail, but kept its torpedo tubes and deck guns.

Do you have any pictures or plans for that set up? I have similer plans for a slitley smaller Japanese sub that housed 2 float planes instead of 3 but the hanger/conn tower looks close in appearance.

Sorry, it was something I saw a long time ago. I couldn't find any photos when I searched.

printing out, moving to real world but... The measurements are too wide needs to be 3 5/16 as you can see from the pic with the ruler, too shirt looses 1/8 for every inch, and not tall enough needs to have a 2 1/2 draft.

Is this the Japanese milk cow conn tower? I had looked, looked and looked some more and came up with this as the most likely suspect. it is close to the length of the 400's and has a plain catapult on the fore of the ship. I found this @ http://the-wanderling.com/mother_ship.html I believe these pictures are based off the two plane hanger sub for which the 400 series subs are based off of , but I'm guessing, and I think I have a drawing of that 2 plane hanger sub. I have it in the 5 box set of plans I have of IJN ships. I dated the box sets back to the mid 1970's

I added the recess area for the aircraft pontoons, and the catipolt to the ribs. I found out why things wouldn't print out at the right size it was a printer setting that is now set to print full page. I'm at school at the moment and will post pics when I get home.

I have three different projects going at the moment, when I getting tired of looking at one I go to the next. I-400, crane ship#1, and a 1/100 scale RX-72 Gundam model sitting on the desk, so I'm taking my time with school going on, estimated graduation date is July of next year.

I will most likely build a ship first, work the kinks out before I post the plans.

At first not building to any rule set other than 1/144 scale. living in El Paso Tx. with no clubs with in 500 miles. Wife and I are planing on moving to the state of Kentucky when I get out of school so I need to find out what the clubs there are about rule set wise. rite now for me its R&D time to design a few subs, I-400, Milk cow, and possibly a french sub design wise. as most clubs rules follow nearly the same construction rule wise with the weapons being the only real big difference. as it seems to me.

As far as weapon placement for the I-400 I am thinking about mounting in the place of the 3 inch aft deck gun for the 1.5 point sub. I am not up for a spurt gun, it dose not appeal to me I think I read I can have a 50 or a 75 round clip for fast gun, but that is attentive as to the club when we move.
