I am looking for a fiberglass hull to build a US war ship , I found some websites that sell them ,But its out of my budget at this time. Does anybody now where I can find a Fiberglass hull for a nice price.
Not sure of what scale I want, See what's out there. Price, Cheaper than want some websites are asking. Might consider making one out of wood. You have any Fiberglass hulls ?
In 1:144 scale (most commonly used in these clubs), you won't find a professionally made cruiser-sized hull for less than $120. If you have the tools & skills, you can build a wooden hull for about half that ($60 bucks worth of good plywood). Note this doesn't include glues, waterproofing materials, etc. And you'd still need to find or buy a good plan set to build from....
Ok Thanks for your input I am going to see if this Maritime Museum in Cowichan Bay has any hulls for sale before I buy anything. I am thinking on buying this kit for $ 95 Canadian Dollars DUM1252 - USS Whitehall 23" By DUMAS @ Great Hobbies
If you want to build a model, that's fine. If you want to do combat, Styrene will shatter on impact. Also, apart from Battlestations!, all the clubs are 1/144 scale.
I don't think there are any RC Battleship clubs on Vancouver Island,But I will build for fun and video the build, I might take a step back and start with a minesweeper, Here is one I videoed of the RC Boys flying planes last weekend I edited out the old sound and added some fake sounds,
I believe @bugler is on the island as well. Does anyone know if @pamnjay is still that way and interested?
I think Jay is still posted in Victoria on Vancouver Island. He has several battle ready or almost ready combat models.
I am going get back to building my ship,I have been working, Still waiting on some part coming from China. USS Raven Minesweeper - YouTube
Good luck to you! Hope you get the hang of it and decide to do combat. It's the best part of the hobby!
