RE: IJN Mutsu 10yr build project Your build makes me want to get my Nagato of the shelf, its has been my slowest build ever.. Love the superstructure work, thanks for sharing.
RE: IJN Mutsu 10yr build project Thanks.. LOL have you read the title? 10+years and that aint no joke! I purchased the hull from BC back in 2002. Cut the windows and did the deck that fall... got to the super and shit slowed down... that pagoda is a dam nightmare.. but now she is close to being done.... Not all that time is building though... I had a break for awhile, then had a couple of surgeries, then finally got back into the hobby and started on her again only to have my thumb nearly cut in two lengthwise by a dremel stainless steel rip blade.. that put me out for another year and a half.... finally back now though.. I am fully retired so I have time now... I have a little left on the super.. I say a little compared to the pagoda..LOL Right now I am reworking all the internals as I have new LifePo4's... so the water channel is cleaned out and I am in the process of relocating all the gear... I have new motor mounts in and the rotate up front is having the servo relocated.. a lot changes, but minor stuff... She will be terrorizing the ponds come Dec and Jan..
RE: IJN Mutsu Starting to worlk on the paint scheme a little. I hate research..... I have found some good pics of the Nagato right before the Baker test.. the pics clearly show a camoflauge pattern, contrary to what I have read in most naval journals. I know it's up to the captain.... he/she can paint the ship whatever color, or pattern they want... I just like to be at least in the ball park.. I have two greenish/grey shades and a dark tan color to use... Anybody have any good colored pics of examples on the Nagato or Mutsu that show a multicolored scheme?
RE: IJN Mutsu Not sure what the accuracy is, but I found this: http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/archive/nagato-paint-idea-__o_t__t_14457.html
RE: IJN Mutsu I thought I would set the Mutt on a scale today to see where she is as far as weight. I knew she would be under the weight allowance with the new LiFePo4s but dam... I have everything in the ship... above deck stuff, motors, batteries, guns, kips, controls, pumps, air bottle, regulator, accumulator tanks... I added everything but the kitchen sink... even added a 20oz battery to make room in case I change the 9oz bottle out for a 20oz.. She weighs in at 24.5 lbs... this sucks! My target weight is about 32 lbs to make the original water line... She is allowed a max weight of 35.31 lbs. So I think the argument for using concrete sealer as a water channel material has just been solved.... I have literally tons of weight to spare... I hope the wife gets over the smell.. it's cold as hell outside so the channeling will be done in the shop downstairs... this will cost me!
RE: IJN Mutsu Live the adventure Spuds! Make sure the Mutt is ready for the February Icebreaker in Statesboro
RE: IJN Mutsu She will be there.... as will by two boys and their surprises! I think I will come painted in recognition of Breast Cancer... PINK!
RE: IJN Mutsu Now I need brain bleach....seeing McSpuds shirtless would be bad enough. See him shirtless & painted pink....... Oh, I hope he was referring to his Mutsu.
RE: IJN Mutsu At the risk of breaking your brain, Jeff... Spudsy did NOT mention wearing pants, either.
RE: IJN Mutsu OMG this thread just went censored.... lol I still have my pink pasties from the pole dancing school I went to..
