Current plan is to either use sealing tape meant for underwater use or just silk span and dope across the seam

Fantastic. I may have to use this idea at some point.

I can say that the ease of working on the drivetrain in that manner is spectacular. And if you were planning to do a bunch of experiments on drivetrain settings, it would allow you to make multiple sets that can be interchanged on the same ship

yah like right now, I have an SMS Scharnhorst that I just finished the other night and I have two different shaft options (1/8" and 5mm) that I wanted to have available. if I'd built the bottom as a sled like that, I could test both.

water under the fridge though. once SAS finishes playing with the test articles, we'll decide on which shaft diameter to use.

Unfortunately I couldn't do it easily on the lower deck in the stern so I may have to come up with an adder to add on detail

Me too. I've been hesitant to sheet until everything on the inside is done just in case I need to go through the sidewall, but it may be time. I'm planning to get the pneumatic system laid out soon and then I can sheet

Will we see it for the first battle? The count down timer has begun.

I will likely have to take some time to ballast and set up the controls on the pond, but at a minimum she should run.... gas system is next. may not have main superstructure, that thing is going to be a pain to print/draw

and I need to make the stern firing twin adapter. the top of that cannon comes off, so I can just bolt a turret that points aft about 12 degrees off, and it will clear the superstructure...

Well, she passed all the initial bench checks tonight. All systems function, maybe even in the correct direction :) she balances about 1 inch off the ideal CG (aft with no ammo and empty co2 bottle) and will tilt to either side of the keel, so the balance that way is good to go as well. 10 lbs 2oz all up weight and I didn't spend a ton of time trying to save weight on the printed hull parts (unlike the SMS Deutschland where I did spend a healthy amount of time optimizing infill/walls/etc). has one of the easiest internal layouts of any boat I have built, but that is mostly because it has about the worst cannon placement one could find in a ship.... if it is not unstable, there will be a few more ounces of decoration I will add to the bow/stern along with a host of lifeboats, AA & secondary's, at a later date.... Time to go print some drag disks

It was quite an unusual ship to battle. I was able to get some shots in the first sortie, with good results.
