Leave it on a footstool that's about a foot high, and walk around in the middle of the night without the lights turned on. It WILL find your shins and cause a nice bruise.

Oh, did you mean skinning? Don't have as much to offer you there, sorry!

Sounds more like a recipe for smashing topside details

your extrusion rate looks low and that your bed wasn't perfectly level along with low heat.

Ok giving up on the ninjaflex and going with the TPU/ ninjaflex semi its sooooo much easier. prints alot like ABS with no bed issues. I will be testing out impact capabilities with pellet gun tonight. image.jpg

Two pumps on an air rifle is more velocity than our cannons.

I only have a pellet gun 1400 so if it can withstand a couple of shots for that it should prolong a couple of years of service.

Well I used a Gamo whisper 1300 fps rifle with 10.5 gr. .177 Cal pellets at 10 ft and here is what I found NO penetration but some scaring from pellet. The side wall that was shot in pic is 1.5mm thick. So with that said here is the pic.

Did you have the target just sitting loose or did you have it held in place somehow similar to if it were mounted aboard the ship?

Held in place my next target is a small deckhouse to save on material I filled this one with silicone caulk and added a 6/32 SS machine screw just need to mount it before the carnage can begin.
    Before shot.

image.jpg image.jpg Two shots from the same distance very nice durability. Next I will soak these in water for two days ( just because I'm busy tomorrow ) then shoot it. This should test for material seperation/bonding.

If you would print those rangefinders separately, you'd get a LOT better results :)

That was my original plan. I might go back to that. The problem is gluing this stuff you have to use heat to stick them together.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I know they aren't musium quality but they look so much better than the foam cut-outs and the small parts won't get shot off.

Heat is easy to come by but you might try something like e6000 as an adhesive.

Those are some pretty smooth looking horizontal surfaces but a little melty, did you brush it with acetone or something or is it all heat? Looks a lot better in pics than the first material did.

I used a rubberized paint the kind on TV to seal a screen door then used a product called parts dip over it for the color. This gives me a tough flexable finish thats fast and easy. Unlike ABS rigged and brittle exterior it can not be smothed by acetone or other chemicals. I chose this material not only for all the headaches but for its physical characteristics. It boast a whopping 98A on the durometer while ABS is at 14. It retains its shape well. and I won't have to repare/replace it as often. The draw backs are it retains it shape so well it makes it hard to clean up after printing and frequent nozzle clogs means you have to pay attention to the printer while printing.

So tool dip? Never thought of coating a superstructure with that. I guess a thick epoxy paint would cover a lot of sins as well.

Only a Fat B*st*rd like Yammer could get away with something so heavy for topside. Try that on a Nagato & watch it turn turtle the minute it hits the water....
