    What he said.

I normally leave the bolts in, with how we abuse things you can never have too much strength in an area IMO. And I typically use E6000 or Shoe Goo, I prefer an adhesive that has some flexibility and can "ooze" when assembling the pieces...helps fill in any imperfections.

Ladies and gentlemen, the model is ready to prototype! The bosses to bolt the printed hull are done and now the model is being shipped to @bsgkid117 for final cutting up for printing. We'll hopefully have a hull in the next couple days!

So I've been informed that Chester v1 is currently printing! Should be done by tomorrow morning. Hopefully @bsgkid117 will share pics. I'm excited to pick it up this weekend.

You would think more people starting out in the hobby would want to start with a Von der tan.

Chester has entered the physical world and is looking good!
I'll be picking her up from @bsgkid117 in Georgia and then the build will commence!

Chester v1 was acquired in GA last weekend. Much thanks to @bsgkid117 for printing her out. Overall she looks pretty good. Made a few mistakes with the design. Primarily the cutouts for the drive motors are too short. Also the rudder servo wires interfere with its mount. These are small things I can easily fix for v2. Also all the extra details I added like the cutout for the battery wires really adds nothing and will be eliminated. I'm excited tho. The bolts and nuts to put it together are on the way. Soon the build will begin!

Hull is glued together. Hull, deck, and super together weigh 2.2lbs. It's a little heavier than I would have liked but I think I can make it work.
Here's a couple pics of internal layout.

Aww, bummer! I wanted to see her in person. Maybe ask what she's doing Friday night. Oh, wait, wrong topic!

Anyway ... In that case, have fun doing whatever it is you'll be doing. I'd say "I want one!", but honestly, I'm going to have enough trouble getting my Bismarck ready for Nats this year. I really should be printing a new superstructure, considering how "well" the PLA held up, but I'm tempted to just patch it and call it good for one more year. I'm also tempted to wire up the outboard shafts since someone else had to open their mouth and mention certain things, but I think I'm going to let that one go for another year and let someone else get it banned.

Getting back to work on Chester. Soldered some connectors for the bus bar. It's ugly, I know.
    PXL_20230728_215300518.jpg

Also soldered connectors on the drive esc. Finished building the gun. It's a new design I've developed that's great for small, lightweight ships. Also started the rudder. (Can see that drying in the background.)

Getting close to the slap it all together point.

BTW not to go off-topic, but some other boats were mentioned earlier, and if anybody is wondering, CAD models for Blucher and Tennessee are both underway, along with Scharnhorst.

They should be coming available soon. at a location. in a direction. in a state. that has a shipyard.
