Had a thought. Would it be possible, do you reckon, to convert an existing RC sternwheeler or sidewheeler into an ironclad? It was done historically, obviously, but I wonder how feasible it would be in scale? Something along the lines of using the existing machinery and, occasionally, lines of the hull, and building an armored casemate and wheelhousing over it. Obviously, there'd be gunports, and I assume (being new to the hobby) that if one wanted to arm the thing for combat, it wouldn't be impossible, though these would be static rather than moving mounts.

    Is this completely unfeasible?

Not really ‘unfeasible’ more like not worth the effort. Ironclads fall outside of the rulesets for both Fastgun and Biggun (usually the cut off is in the very early 1900’s for commissioning/service) with the Ironclad era coming to an end in the early 1890’s.
And at 144 scale would be incredibly small and extremely hard to arm.
Also, stern and sidewheelers have an effective turning radius of the DeathStar when combat build rules are applied.

also like double size all rudders
the experience will be worth it and you will always get interest pond side
