I'm trying to find rc clubs near me and half of the websites stoped being updated a few years ago and others are just no longer in existence.

It depends on where you live? There are still a number of active clubs.

Yep we are still alive, although we don't have a huge online presence.

It doesn’t help you a lot, but both Big Gun and Fast Gun are active in Virginia/Maryland/North Carolina. It would be worth emigrating for me :)

Jacob 2022, If you're in Ontario, Canada, feel free to PM me if you would like to check out some ships. Maybe I can answer some of your questions and get you into a ship to battle.

    Nomercy,
If you’re asking me the question, the MABG has active members in Baltimore, Alexandria, Fredericksburg, Hampton, Lynchburg, and Salem. We currently have a pond in the Fredericksburg area, working on another in Fredericksburg and Lynchburg.

The hobby is much easier to get into than it was when I was getting in back in 1982. Resources are plentiful and the cost of the basic components are cheap (56 dollar 6 channel radio as compared to 180 in the day). Motors are better and more reliable (larger selection) and many knowledgeable veterans who are willing to help those who are willing. With online retailers and RC combat vendors it's easy to get a hull and assorted superstructure parts. With printing you have a whole other avenue open. Instead of waited eral weeks for a cassette to talk with someone you have a cellphone and can video call for big issues. Someone wanting to get into the hobby has to have a desire to listen, learn and be willing to take ownership. The only question is does one have the drive to go through the work to learn how to do it.

Don’t forget does one have the drive to drive to events that most likely won’t take place in their area. That’s one of the biggest turn offs is the driving. If you are willing to learn, listen and travel then you are absolutely ready to get into the hobby.
