I find the ideal of rc ships trying to sink each other a great idea, and I think it is about time I move up from balsa wood aircraft. My question is: is there a group of any kind (BG, SG, Treaty) in alaska? If there is, please post information about it.
Welcome to the forum, and the hobby. I am not aware of any clubs up in Alaska. But you could always start one. Mikey
Hi! You've been doing planes, so you must have some woodworking skills and tools. What tools do you have?
The bare basics, a hobby knife set, dope, a good supply of balsa in different lengths and thicknesses, all kinds a sand paper, with belt sander, dremel tool with bits, and a lot of spare time on my hands.
Hi crzy, I remember a couple years ago there were a few people trying to start a Big Gun club up in Alaska. You'll want to inquire on the Big Gun Yahoo Group for their info: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BigGunsModelWarship/
In case this is still a valid question: me and a few other guys are looking at doing something in Anchorage. My TX will be done by breakup, but the rest of the guys interested are looking at starting their builds next year (They're all super busy, and I'm the seasonal biologist who spends the winter making unemployed noises in my cabin, so I have a head start). Hoping to get spun up as a fast gun group once these guys start really putting their ducks in a row.
sorry to burst your bubble, Juneau to Anchorage is about the same distance as atlanta to detroit by air, and 900 miles by ferry and through canada on the alaska highway.
Hey.... uh so I moved to WI last week. FYI. But I can get anybody interested in starting a club in Los Anchorage in touch with people who did show interest when I was there.
