Does anyone know what the two vertical cylindrical structures attached to the hull of USS Texas are? You see them toward the left hand border of the picture about halfway down the hull. Thanks.
They were the monopile mooring system installed as part of the 1988 drydocking. There were two fore and two aft to keep her in place and let her rise and fall with the tides. Not sure if they will be retained for use when she moves to her new home after the dry dock work is completed. More info @ http://battleshiptexas.info/html/History/1988-1990.html

Yeah, I was just settling in to some lunch & a bit of brainless utoob watching when what should pop up in my feed, but ... (!) It was cute and amusing, and probably better than watching World of Warships replays. You really should turn the camera sideways, though. That, and I really think we should consider setting one of these up with a real webcam or something for next Nats. That would be kewl!
