Its Iowa for sure... 1980's, Post refit likely 86,87 ish. Its a Kidd class outboard of her. Might be the SCOTT, DDG-995(brother served on her), Its the Coral Sea across the Pier. I was there in 86(might have been 87) visiting my brother outboard the Iowa if i remember right, one of the Adams class in front of the Kidd is the Sellers DDG-11, Other brother served on her too.... wow, that does bring back some memories..... I am getting old...... Thank you for sharing!! would love to know where that picture comes from. I cant seam to find it under any of the ships in it? I am sending it to my brother to see if he remembers this time frame.
So, yeah, that last one was Iowa and Coral Sea, and some other random stuff. Meanwhile, here's some lovely armored cruiser action, because reasons:
The first ship I ever bought and fought was a Clemson class four piper destroyer DD245 Rueben James. I really liked the look and lines of her and so a few years later I picked up this beast. She's an Omaha class cruiser length 93 inches, beam 8.5 inches. She will never be armed and never fight but might be nice to finish up and just run someday. Maybe put a couple smoke units in/for the stacks. Another one of my many projects!
Pretty boat. Once upon a time, I thought I wanted a USS Detroit, but then I looked at the allowed weight and other things and came to my sense. Yeah, that's the story ... senses. As if. She's a pretty boat, though - good luck!
Not Wednesday, but I've been slacking, and just found this in an old downloads folder. Go figure. I think it's pretty spiffing.
Man, I've been remiss of late, haven't I??? Anyway, here's something of historical interest, and (I think) rather wallpaper worthy, too:
