I have a big gun Normandie and another hull for one. It’s pretty scabby though. My first effort as an 18yr old.
Oh. Dude. Nice. If you have pics, I'm sure there'd be a spot for them up somewhere in the forum. tag me in it if you post them.
The KGV has quad sterns if that's what you're after. The best stern gun boat I know of is the Gangut with trips right on the fantail and massive casements for protection. If someone built one with guns that pivoted 15* either side I think it would be a shredder.
yeah no, I'm just wishing the frenchies had finished more of their ships. they have some neat-o designs. Quad sterns doesn't really do it for me.
The issue is the largest French quad turretted boat can only run 7~ guns, 6 1 units and 1 half unit. If only it was an 8 unit boat...
I do remember a Big Gun Japanese carrier, armed with 7 forward-firing cannons below the flight deck - they were called the "Seven Samurai".
Sadly not legal with the rules. You cant divide full units. So JB being a 6.5 could at max run 6 1 units and 1 half. If you could divide, whoa boy watch out.
It's looking like I'll have to slaughter Nassaus again for Carl's. Need new sheeting before I can get to work. Started stripping off the old sheeting this evening. Finished the port side. This is the first time I have used a heat gun to assist removing the old sheeting. What. A. Difference! Get yourself a heat gun for this process! You won't regret it!
luckily, I have one of those already. I use mine to heat-form recurve and longbows out of PVC pipe, along with a few other mostly ridiculous tasks.
Keep watch on the other side of the balsa sides, they tend to spontaneous combustion when heated. Pull the battery from the smoke detector.
While desheeting the starboard side the fiberglass coat on the bow came off incidentally. The automotive epoxy doesn't stick well to wood I'm finding. Redid the bow with West and two layers of .5 oz cloth.
