Another hack from those peskie Russkies. FAKE NEWS. Never been there never met that Iron Puke, just a typical MSM missing the facts.
Ran the King again today. Run went well, but turning is pretty bad. Going to try a different rudder and hope it improves.
May not be fast now, but it will be with its new motors. The ones in it now just didn't cut it so I'm replacing them with HK brushless motors.
Also, lots getting done on the boat, just haven't taken the time to take pictures and document it all, sorry.
Here's a quick update with PHOTOS. Built a barrel clamp for the dual bow guns and it's...a...not printed. Here is the boat as a whole right now. This is probably as far as I'll get with the SS till after the battle. 3D printed stern gun solenoid mount. To ensure that the bottle won't tip up towards the regulator when the front deck it put on, I cut out this nifty do-hicky that keeps the bottle from doing just that. So there is a quick update of what's going on. Not really everything going on, but some of the major stuff. Like a movie, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that isn't shown. Enjoy!
Marking out the waterline and painting today. This boat sits pretty low in the water. About 1 1/4 inches of freeboard.
Photos of painting. Weighed the King Edward down to 12.5lbs (14 max) and marked the water level on the bow and stern (no photos, sorry) Then used painter's tape to run a line across the boat. Then painted. And the reveal... Bootstripe will most likely go on tomorrow after the paint is thoroughly dried. I grabbed all the superstructure parts I had on hand for a photo. I think she looks good. Here is a neat little trick. To test fire your guns without having to worry about ricochets or wasting bb's, get a hard plastic mayonnaise container or peanut butter jug and drill a 1/4" hole in the center of the cap. Then drill a couple more small holes (3/32 or so) around the cap to relieve pressure. Just insert the barrel of the gun into the hole in the cap and screw the cap back on the container. Ready to go! You can also put a rag in the container to dampen the shots. Enjoy!
Just finished test firing and adjusting the guns. They are working GREAT! Ready to blast Nassau balsa. Also got new motor mounts glued in for the new motors. Motors won't arrive till the 1st, so I'm going to do some test runs using the motor from the Suffren and a spare since the motors coming are the some ones.
Tested the King Edward yesterday with the new motor setup. Very pleased. Acceleration is much better and with the new rudder turning is better too. Just have a few more things to do and she will be ready to face the Axis fleet.
No. I found a few broken ribs and a shattered barbette so I habe to fix that stuff, plus I'm working on the Italian ship which occupies a lot of my shop time lately
