The Lexington-class ships were originally designed to be battlecruisers, with heavy guns, high speed, and moderate armor protection. The Navy laid down six ships of the class in 1919–20. When the battlecruisers were cancelled under the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922, two of the unfinished ships were designated for completion as carriers. Lexington and Saratoga, from the wika page. My question is could a ship be built as a battlecruiser as apposed to being built as a carrier ship?

I think IRC will frown upon a Lexington BC. If you want a non-maneuverable billboard of a bb target, just build the Hood. If you want, paint Saratoga on it's side, I'll still shoot at it!

In the wonderful world of Big Gun combat, most rule sets allow the Lexington class and others in the configurations listed in Conway’s. Generally, the ship had to be laid down.

Why would I want to build a HMS Hood? We all know how that turned out tragically... Is there a better designed ship?

To see if it was a fluke? It may not have been but, any experiment with less than 10 data points is statistically insignificant.
    Also she's a beautiful ship : P

Its a fairly reasonable bet that a ship in our hobby won't explode quite so uh explosively in combat.

What if he forgets to use internal armor where the softpack LiPo batteries are located?

Seydlitz, Best BC on the water right now. And BC happens to sell them.

It's funny how Charlie comes out with a new hull, battles that ship, everyone thinks it's the best and buys a kit from him.
    Talk about good marketing.

I prefer to think of it as top down involvement. The owner builds and battles and is successful in battling and selling (like you said, best marketing). Shiny keys for the win!

I think a VDT is a proven, effective BC that will give you years of fun as well as being like Monty pythons proverbial rabbit with" sharp pointy teeth" she will bite your head off if captained well(not me yet). Also sold by BC.
Hope to see u on the water.

    Craig,
I think the sidelist is 24 sec and the VDT is 26.
Also, all the cool guys never ever ever put their name at the bottom of their posting. So watch it

wandy, the speed difference is correct, sidelist is 24, however VDT is still a competitive boat for a BC and worthy of consideration. As far as the name thing goes, I have always been a rebel without a clue and as far as cool goes we northerners are way past cool we get downright cold.:woot::woot::D:D:):)
