    Jeff,
Please accept my apology. I have nothing but respect for those who build light cruisers and destroyers:blink:. A Libery is VERY easy by comparison.
The space between the prop and rudder post would make gears difficult. I will be using the easy to instal a pushrod system. I accturally just orderd gears from SeroCity for my Barham project. I will see if I can force it in there before I commit to the pushrod.

I decided to go ahead and get a new radio for the William Dawes. I got the cheap HK 6 channel for the convoy ship.

I had originally planned to use the old 2 channel from the Komet, but decided to just leave it in the Komet.
This will be my first 2.4 GHz radio.

    1. Is that really all there is to the antenna?
    2. ESC – If I am reading wiring diagrams correctly I do not need to have a battery plug in. just plug in the ECS?

    3. I will be using the Turnigy receiver controlled on/off switch for the micro pump. 10Amp should be sufficient for a micro pump?
I am starting to lean toward no radio box for this. If I use servo lead extensions, I should be able to completely goop up the receiver and the switch with Scotchcoat.

Yup, that's all there is to it.
2nd question- Are you talking about power for the receiver? If so, the ESC should have a battery eliminator circuit (BEC). That will power the receiver and the servos and whatever else that needs power from the RC.

10 amps should be good for that motor, but I would get a second opinion. :)

Ive used that same turnigy switch on a BC micro pump. No problems with the switch, is a small load.

Beav's right about the ESC. Just plug it in to your throttle channel like normal, it will power the rx and servo loads.

That whistling you hear? completely innocent, I assure you. :D

    It looks a mess…..

Motor goes forward and reverse. Ruder servo works. Pump turns on & off. Need to play with the ESC program card. I have a pause between forward and reverse. I didn’t have time to play with it last night. The pump works, but on the dial not the switch….
I still need to color code the plugs.
Still waiting on parts for my rudder servo mounting. I want to get that mounted before I skin her.

To fix the fwd-reverse pause thing, plug it into the programming card and set run mode to TWO.

The switches on that radio are not channels.

    Thanks Clark,
I had read a post where you walked through the programming card, but couldn’t remember where it was. Fixed the reverse to run 100% as well.

    Thanks Nick,
I will quit trying to figure out the switches. Dial works.

Happy to help, I battled for several months with that annoying pause before Mike Mangus let me in on the secret :)

It all started with a bad solder on the Battery lead……..
Of course I had already thoroughly covered in Scotchkote……..
Easy to just make a new one……
    I checked I tell you….. Red to + Black to - .
    SMOKE, popping, bad stuff…..:pinch::crying:
    I checked, I tell you, I did…..
Some how some way, there it was Black to + Red to -.
    One dead ESC.
Good thing I bought the cheap one. Good thing I bought a spare.

make certain the battery has zero deformity in it. if it does just throw it away. last thing you want is an exploding battery.

Looked like a lead-acid battery he was testing with; they're pretty resistant of foolishness as long you don't totally discharge them and reverse a bunch of cells. Once the smoke is let out of the ESC, the discharge form the battery pretty much stops, and it doesn't take a whole lot of watts to let all the smoke out of an ESC :)

Keith, I've killed my share of electrical things (and two co-workers let the smoke out of a 500kw motor-generator on my submarine!), I'm glad you bought a backup. That's why I like Hobby King. I can afford a backup easily enough :)

Battery looks fine. It’s not that big of a deal. Just frustrating.
Love that the Hobby King ESC is only $10.00. I will have to order a new backup…..
Funny part of the story is that I was given advise by one of our club members to buy an extra ESC, because they are fragile to being plugged in backwards. At the time my attitude was “really you plugged in backwards, Really”.
Here I smokes one before I even got the boat on the water….. REALLY!!!:pinch:
Let me take the time to publicly say,
    Sorry Phil
